i-flash updates
In order to determine if a vehicle needs a software flash
update, some manufacturers have provided a mechanism on their websites to do
this without purchasing a subscription.
Here, we provide instruction on how to do this with the manufactures
Parts World’s J2534 tool supports.
Chrysler/Dodge/Eagle/Jeep/Plymouth
- You
need to get the current calibration ID from the vehicle using your scan
tool.
- Once
you get that number, click the following link to open a PDF file. (click
here)
- Search
the table to find the calibration ID that you pulled from the vehicle.
- Compare
the letters following the calibration ID.
If the letters are after those found in the vehicle, the vehicle
needs an update. Example; if the
Cal ID is 56040409AA, and you find it in the table as 56040409AC, you need
to purchase the update.
- This
information is on the manufacturer’s website; however, you must log in to
find it. The short-cut link above
is the same information you would receive if you were to log in to the
site.
- This
site does not indicate what symptoms are being corrected.
Ford/Lincoln/Mercury
- You
need to get the current calibration ID from the vehicle using your scan
tool
- The
following link takes you to a Motorcraft website. (click
here)
-
Click on the latest calibration information link.
- At the
bottom of the sample table, there is a link to Search Calibration by
Vehicle, Model Year and Engine.
Click on this link.
- Enter
the year make model information. A
table will open listing calibration ID’s.
Compare the CALID taken from the vehicle. If that number is not on the list, it is
not up-to-date
- There
is an alternate way to check that is very cumbersome. This new way to check is much easier.
- This
site does not indicate what symptoms are being corrected.
General Motors
- You
need to get the current calibration ID from the vehicle using your scan
tool.
- Get
the vehicle’s VIN number.
- Go to
the GM website by clicking on the link provided or from our I-Flash page. (click here)
- Enter
the VIN in the space provided.
- There
will be a list of Cal ID numbers listed.
Compare these to those taken from your vehicle. If the website lists higher numbers than
what are in the vehicle, there is an update.
- GM
also provides a short description of each update. This may help determine if you are
encountering any of the symptoms the flash is correcting.
- No
subscription is needed to get this information.
Nissan/Infinity
- You
need to get the current calibration ID from the vehicle using your scan
tool.
- Follow
the link provided to go directly to the correct page. (click here)
- There
are two dropdown boxes to select.
The first one provides data for all OBDII systems. The second is all calibrations that can
be updated with your J2534 interface tool, 2004 and newer.
- Find
the calibration ID from the menu.
Double click it. A new page
will open with the ID in a small window.
Old ECM or TCM # will show the selected code. Under it will be a new ECM or TCM
#. If the number is higher, there
is an update. If the number is the
same, your vehicle has the most up-to-date calibration information.
- This
site does not indicate what symptoms are being corrected.
Honda/Acura
- The
annual subscription is required to get the updates for J2534 PCM
initialization software.
- Helm
is the vendor Honda uses to distribute their information. Contact them at 949-330-7152 to check
for updates for any specific vehicle.
- Very
Important. Honda PCM
initialization software will not work on Windows XP Home Edition. Check the provided link for up-to-date
system requirements for J2534 pass-through devices. ((click here) go
to Tools Info tab)
Toyota/Lexus/Scion
- There
is no facility to check calibration ID information on the manufacturer’s
website. You must obtain a current
CD from the manufacturer. This can
be obtained by ordering it on Toyota’s
site. (click here)
As more information is available, it will be posted
here. Check back soon.
